Richard Anonymous is a virtual Hip Hop act and is the creation -and postmodernist experiment – of an unnamed Cape Town based musician and writer. The author has invented the fictional character to serve as a vehicle for unreserved creativity and artistic expression. The imagined world that this character inhabits is the Heathen Harbour.

Often donning the moniker of Mr. Invisible, the author embraces the obscurity and anonymity that comes with being an unknown artist. The fictional character and encompassing dramatized world serve as a canvas for the creation of a meaningful distance between the artist and the art itself. This will to anonymity stems from the artist's firmly held belief that it is the art, and not the artist, that should be the audience’s primary object of focus.

Richard Anonymous’ first independent album, The Volume of Yesterday was released in November 2019.

Richard has also been featured on the collaborative album Subfolder by Luboy, released in August 2020 as well the independently released album, BPAD by Herb Vila released in April 2021.
